Summary of Interview 091020A with Choijil

Choijil was born in Ölziit soum of Arhangai aimag. He is of Ööld nationality. It is said, Galdan Boshigt Khan had left some of his people there while he fought. Those left behind people established the so-called Ööld Beis province thus beginning their history. He told in detail about his grandfather noyon Sandagdorj and about his origin.

The history of his parents’ marriage is very interesting. The history of Choijil’s birth and his biography are also very interesting.

Since it was a family of noble origin they had plenty of gold, silver and pearl. Quite a large amount of their possessions was confiscated leaving them with nothing. After revolution there were many well-off families, lamas, monasteries that buried their possessions like Buddhas, sutras and books in the caves and holes the size of a ger base. One of them is the forefather of Choijil. The horrible event called repression has turned upside down tens of thousands of families.
